CUB SCOUT PACK 24 - ELMHURST, ILLINOIS
The activities provided below are subject to change from year to year. These activities reflect the monthly Pack meetings with the full group, but individual Dens will also schedule meetings throughout the year that are coordinated directly by the Den Leaders and not listed here. Other activities like campouts, hikes, museum overnights, and service projects are scheduled by the Pack but are not listed below. Our Calendar has a list of all upcoming Pack activities.
September
Webelos II will present the colors. Webelos II families are asked to arrive early to help with setup.
We'll have some general introductions for the new families as well as information about popocorn selling. We'll also have a fun activity for the scouts to start off the year. In the past we've had visits from military service personnel or fun games or contests for the scouts.
October
Webelos I will present the colors. Webelos I families are asked to arrive early to help with setup.
October is typically our only outdoor pack meeting. We meet in Wilder Park with a campfire program where each den performs a skit and brings their "wish sticks."
Boat kits are distributed to scouts to build boats for the November Raingutter Regatta.
November
Bears will present the colors. Bear families are asked to arrive early to help with setup.
November is usually reserved for our annual Raingutter Regatta.
We've also made ornaments in the past to place on the Pack 24 tree at the Wilder Park tree lighting in December.
December
Wolves will present the colors. Wolf families are asked to arrive early to help with setup.
The December meeting features a fun activity for the scouts. In past years, we've had an outside entertainer, a group holiday dinner, a Lego Pinewood Derby race or a talent show, among other activities.
January
Webelos 2 will present the colors (for the last time as Cub Scouts). Webelos 2 families are asked to arrive early to help with setup.
Our new scouts who have earned the Bobcat award will participate in the Bobcat award ceremony. Our oldest scouts who have completed the Arrow of Light will participate in our Arrow of Light and crossing over ceremony. Webelos 2 cross over to Scouts BSA following the January Pack Meeting.
Pinewood Derby car kits are typically distributed to scouts at the January Pack Meeting.
February
Webelos I will present the colors. Webelos I families are asked to arrive early to help with setup.
Our activities for February may rotate among a few different fun activities for the scouts. These may include a STEM activities night, a games night, or a Pinewood Derby workshop to prepare for the March Pinewood Derby event.
March
Our March Pack Meeting is typically our Pinewood Derby.
April
Tigers will present the colors. Tigers families are asked to arrive early to help with setup.
Our activities for April may rotate among a few different fun activities for the scouts. In the past, some activities have included games night, first-aid presentations, camping presentations, or STEM activities for the scouts.
May
Lions will present the colors (for the first time at a full Pack meeting). Lion families are asked to arrive early to help with setup.
Our May meeting is typically our Blue & Gold Banquet and end of year awards presentations. A family dinner will be served at this meeting. Scouts who have completed a rank will earn rank advancement awards. We also present other awards earned during the year that were not previously presented.
We also typically schedule an outside entertainer, such as a magician or a reptile show.
