Honor Guard / Flag Ceremony Script

Posting Colors (beginning of meeting)

Leader:  Will everyone please rise and stand at attention as we post our nation’s colors...

Leader:  Honor Guard…advance!  (Note: Always a respectful pause between all commands. Honor Guard advances.  American flag always remains on its own right, whether marching or posted.)

Leader:  Honor Guard…halt!

Leader:  Prepare to post colors! (Scouts cross each other, walk to and stand in front of flag stands, American flag always going first. They remain holding flag.)

Leader:  Honor Guard…post colors!  (American flag is posted first.)

Leader:  Will everyone now please join our scouts in the Pledge of Allegiance… Scout salute (Scouts in uniform salute and all others present place hand over heart. Recite the Pledge.)

Leader:   Honor Guard…dismissed!  (Scouts who posted colors advance to rear of room, other Honor Guard scouts falling in behind.)

Retrieving Colors (end of meeting)

Leader:  Will everyone please rise as we retrieve the colors…

Leader:  Honor Guard…advance!

Leader:  Honor Guard…halt!

Leader:  Prepare to retrieve colors!  (Scouts advance and stand at attention in front of flag stands.)

Leader:  Honor Guard…retrieve colors!  (Scouts lift flags from stands, come to middle of floor and stand at attention. Other Honor Guard scouts are still in line, facing front, at attention.)

Leader:  Honor Guard…dismissed!  (Scouts advance to rear of room, other honor guard scouts falling in behind them.)
